Teams of students will be linked to professionals in engineering, material science, sustainability sciences and business to develop new and innovative designs for public drinking fountains.
The winning design will include the latest technologies for water treatment and water recycling and will meet standards to remove contaminants, including lead. Suggested design options include membranes and inexpensive materials that can be disinfected or that resist biofilm development.
Research Project Grand Challenge
The project scope aligns with several key MRIVCC grand challenges including advancing technologies – addressing today’s issues of concern such as lead contamination and maintenance; management of pathogens in drinking water; and issues of water quality.
